“Recipes have to be made your own.” This is the sentiment by which the founders of Nina’s Cookies remain true. Using only the freshest ingredients, free of preservatives, sisters Maryann Whitehead and Lucille Mazza bake delicious hand-made Italian cookies and other gourmet treats at their Feeding Hills bakery.

Maryann began making her mother’s signature “S” cookie - a staple in her mother’s kitchen and a family favorite. Soon she was making other kinds of cookies - combining ingredients to make each recipe her own. These cookies included the traditional Italian Nut Ball, butter cookies with cherry centers, Italian frosted, and chocolate chip biscotti. Maryann started getting requests from family and friends for her cookies to be served at weddings, family gatherings and other special parties. Her sister, Lucy, began helping Maryann with the tasks of baking, decorating and packaging the cookies for these events. In 2004, Lu-Mare’s Cookies officially became a business. Baking for Maryann and Lucy soon became a weekly event as they filled orders for cookies that grew in size from 2 pound orders to orders as large as 50 pounds! Orders were coming in regularly and space for baking to fill the orders was at a premium. In 2008, Maryann and Lucy decided that it was time to open their own bakery. In the Spring of 2008, they rented a storefront in Feeding Hills and Nina’s Cookies, named after their mother, Antonina, was born. Nina’s Cookies, serving daily, fresh and delicious homemade Italian cookies, exquisitely decorated and packaged for any occasion.
